Training Tips For The
Soul
By: Daniel Nelson
1 Corinthians 6:12 – All things are lawful for me, but all things
are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be
brought under the power of anything.
Most people spend their whole lives trying to overcome stuff.
Most Christians and non-Christians live in fear of something all the
time. Fear of money, not measuring up, failure, lack, the past, etc.
Paul understood that in Christ all things are available and in that
lifestyle he wouldn’t allow any other power to control his body or
spirit. That doesn’t mean he didn’t go through stuff or have
problems but when he recognized it he moved beyond it. The same
power that raised Jesus will also raise you up by that power. Paul
understood that and didn’t let religion or any other power keep him
in fear. Don’t allow anything to creep in and tell you who you are
not but bring every thought into the light of Christ and be free
from whatever is keeping you from your future in Him.
Father, today reveal the things we think we are in control of
that are controlling us and allow your freedom to reign in our
lives.

Boy oh boy has it been hot, speaking of hot, the SC State Show

going to be stumped. 2D was dominated by 02. With SC State 2D Youth

Hello Everyone, We have just
returned from the Youth World Finals in Jackson, Mississippi and our
youth put on a great performance. Congratulations to Courtney Smith
and Tanner Shelton on placing in the go-rounds and qualifying for
the Finals. We are really proud of you.
Our North Carolina youth also came in 2nd place in the Spirit
Parade in Jackson and we celebrated with a pizza party on Thursday
night down in Jackson. We had a huge turnout for the North Carolina
picnic on the first Saturday we were down in Jackson. I know there
were at least 120 people that attended the cookout. It was great
getting together with the youth and their parents from across the
state.
Our show at Lake Waccamaw was a success. Our district cleared
close to $2800 for our awards fund from that show. Thank you to all
who helped to make the show a success and a very special thanks to
Patty & Dale Nunnery (NC 04) for all your hard work at the show. Our
NC 01 members had some awesome runs at this show also. Thank you for
supporting this show.
I still have a supply of the red NC Pure Horsepower t-shirts
available. They are $12.00 each and they will be available at our
upcoming shows.
It is time to start preparations for our Annual NC 01 Fundraiser
& Points show scheduled for Sept. 20th at Moye Fence Co. Arena. We
will need office help, announcers, barrel setters, tractor drivers,
concession items and concession stand workers as well as auction
items. This is a major fundraiser for our district awards fund and
we will need your help to make it a success. I will have a sign up
list at the T & J Barrel Blast show in August.
Good Luck to all of our NC 01 members who will be competing at
the Colonials in Lexington, VA in August.
Upcoming shows:
Aug. 8 – 10 – Colonial Regionals in Lexington, VA
Aug. 29 – 30 – T & J Barrel Blast, Williamston, NC
Sept. 13 – Promised Land Stables
Sept. 20 – NC 01 Fundraiser Show at Moye Fence Co. Arena
See you at the show, Tammy & Timmy Moye

Hi, NC 02 I hope everyone is doing well we had a great show at
Wallace Arena. Thanks to everyone who made the Waccaman Show. I know
with schedules being what they were everyone couldn't attend.
The pts. are updated thru 7/12/08, I listed the top 10 in each
division so everyone can see where they need to COWGIRL or COWBOY
up.
If anyone can come up with fund raiser ideas - go for it - every
little bit adds up.
It's been neat to watch the competition unfold this year, with
the new faces blending with the old faces getting to know each other
and becoming friends while chasing them cans.
The fuel prices are putting a strain on the economy, I know we
have to watch what we do but I'm glad we don't let it ruin our
barrel racing that we all enjoy so much. The smile on faces young &
older after a run is priceless.
N C02 Members - I'm havivg fun watching as is everyone I know,
keep up the good work so we can keep learning from each other and
making friends. CLOSING THOUGHT: MONEY WILL BUY PEOPLE,BUT NOT TRUE
FRIENDS.
Thanks Keith Mercer

Hello all, as this is being published the Youth World is over and
there are new champions to be crowned. Welcome back to all the Youth
participants and parents of all who went to Jackson, and
congratulations to all the Youth contestants who ran great runs and
the ones that made it back to the Championship round.
Congratulations to North Carolina NBHA who are the 2008 Reserve
Champion of the Spirit Parade at the 2008 Youth World. Yes thanks to
all the Youth and all the ones that helped out to make the Nascar
boxcars and all the fine details for the Nascar Theme for the State
of North Carolina to be placed second place.
I know all of the ones that went to Youth World are pretty worn
out and tired so it is great that we won’t have a show till August
16, 2008, which will be at Triple C Arena. Remember that this will
be our co-sanctioned show with NC09 so this will be a great time to
do a silent auction. Please bring any items that you think may sale
good, or even a delicious baked item. We will have several shows in
a row and are getting closer and closer to the end of our season.
We really need to be working extra hard to bring in money to go
toward our awards. We have around $6700 in our account as of July
20, 2008. Please remember that I am keeping account of anyone that
raffles, sales or donates money during the year and this person that
raises the most money will earn the buckle for Top Fundraiser. So
keep working hard to on this and be sure you let me know so that I
can put you down for the amount that is earned or donated. The next
shows are: Triple C Arena:8-16-08, Runnin R: 8-23-08, Triple C:
8-30-08, Cole Creek: 9-5-08, Running Horse: 9-13-08, and the last
show will be Clacks 9-27-08. Don’t forget that we will be having our
second annual Fall Festival at Cole Creek on 10-11-08, and we have a
lot of great things planned for this as we had a great turn out last
year.
I will start having the nominations for Horse of the Year, Family
of the Year, Arena of the Year and Most Improved Rider at the show
on August 30, 2008. You can nominate anyone for any of these as long
as they are a member in NC03. You will have to put your name on the
nominations so that the only ones that can nominate are also NC03
members. You can nominate anyone as many times as you like and there
will be slips of paper and a box to put these in near the secretary.
You will be able to nominate at the shows on 8-30-08 and 9-6-08,
then I will have a paper with all the nominees on it that you all
will be able to vote on the nominees listed. You will be able to
vote at the shows on 9-13-08 and 9-27-08. Remember that if you do
not place your name on the votes then it will be thrown out, and if
you are not a member it will be disqualified too.
Remember to get your pee wees signed up for the Pee Wee Express,
the cut of date will be September 1 if your child is not signed up
and paid for in the pee wee express then they will not receive an
award. Please see Jonathan and Tiffany Lindsay for this. If you give
this to anyone else than you may not count on your child being
signed up.
Remember to also keep your memberships renewed for the NBHA. If
your memberships expires any points that you have will be forfeited
and you will have to start over no matter when this occurs. Everyone
is doing a good job so keep up the great work.
I want to say a great big thanks to Joan Poteat, who has taken
over putting up the banners and the cans. This can get pretty old
but this job is needed and has helped me very much at the shows, so
thanks Joan for all your help.
Horse condolences to Arlo Morrison, on the loss of his horse BJ,
who had to be put down due to heart complications back the first of
July.
Get wells to Ashley Allen, who is the daughter of Dumpy and Kim
Bailey, on the recent car accident she was involved in a few weeks
ago. Ashley is dong better after having to have surgery on her hip
and having to stay one week in Carolinas Medical Center.
Remember to pitch in and help out if needed, and that your
district always needs you. See ya at the upcoming shows.
Hope is necessary in every condition. - Samuel Johnson

a great trip and do well!
Congratulations to Kristen Smith for making back to
the Teen Short Go in Jackson, MS. Way to go! We hope everyone had a
safe trip home and that they all enjoyed themselves while they were
in Jackson. If you get the opportunity to go, be sure and do. It is
a great time for all. Not only does the NBHA do a great job of
keeping us entertained but the folks from NC do a good job also. The
NC Kickoff Dinner is always a big hit for everyone. It was amazing
how many people came this year to eat and fellowship with one
another. The Moye’s always do a great job of hosting this dinner,
big THANKS!!! It is one of the few times that we can all get
together and enjoy each others stories and company. Congratulations
to NC for pulling off a 2nd place finish at the Spirit Parade! We
plan on moving on up next year!!!!!
The Lake Waccamaw Show was another success! This
fundraiser puts a big boost in our bank account. Thanks to everyone
that helped out, the show cannot be a success with out the effort of
all of those who help out. If you were there and did not pitch in be
sure and thank those that did. We had more added money than last
year $3150 & more entries, a total of over 800 entries for the
weekend! The Olympic Games were a success. NC01 was awarded the Gold
medal, NC04 the Silver, and NC02 the Bronze. It was great to see
members from all districts and even some that choose to join in try
their skill and compete for the district of their choice. We had a
lot of fun, pictures are available on the NC01 website, take a few
minutes and check them out! Thanks to NC01 for agreeing to do this
show again! We had a ball! Thanks to Keith Mercer for co-sanctioning
with us also. I hope all the NC02 members that came had a great time
with us. Special thanks go to NC04 members, Jonathan Ward, John
Ryan, Buddy Britt, Terese Pittman, Golonda Howard, Ashley Tokley,
Mark Hester, Tony Locklear, Donald McMillian, Shaun McMillian,
Trishan Barfield, Beth Herndon, Traci Frink, and Johnny Woodard.
Thanks to all the NC01 members who came and pitched in too! Also,
thanks to Mr. David Eastwood for letting us use his Reveal 4n1
ground tool. We could not of done it with out it! If I left your
name out please know that we appreciate all the efforts by everyone!
We also wrapped up two other fundraisers since last
month. The McLaughlin Farms food sales went well, merchandise should
be in by the time you read this. We also completed the raffle of the
handmade quilt that was donated to our district thru Donald
McMillian and family. Both were a huge success. Thanks to everyone
who sold or/and bought tickets, congratulations to Bill Fogg of NC02
for winning the quilt. Thanks to Sandra Mercer and Donald McMillian,
and Mark Hester for all the hard effort that these folks and their
families put into these two fundraisers. Good work and great job!
Please think of ideas to raise money, no idea is a
bad idea! We will be working on our fundraiser show to be held in
early fall, so stay tuned!
Keep up with the web site for changes to times and
dates. As always if you have any questions or concerns, call us,

Congratulations to the Teen and Youth members
attending Youth World! I’ve been watching the web cast today (July
24) and heard that North Carolina was the Reserve in the SPIRIT
PARADE. Way to go guys! I took a few minutes to call and
congratulate and to chat with Tammy Moye at Youth World and she told
me about a couple of youth that made it back to the finals on
Saturday – but I thought I would wait until I had the full story.
I received word that one of our members is out
recovering after an accident with her horse. While at a fundraiser
in Halifax County (July 19), Nicole was in the pole class and had to
back her horse a bit! In one of those freakish things that happens,
the horse’s feet tangled enough to bring his rear end down and when
Nicole fell off, the horse just did roll down onto her. According to
mom, there was no give to this ground and Nicole suffered a
collapsed lung and a broken hip. She was air lifted to Pitt Memorial
in Greenville where they put 4 screws in her hip. She came home from
the hospital today with grit and determination to be back in the
saddle again. Take care of yourself, Nicole! For those of you that
don’t know Nicole, she is one of our Youth and if you would like to
send Nicole a card, send it to:
Nicole Zornes, P.O. Box 882, Gaston, NC 27832.
I know it would brighten her day!
Colonial Nationals is August 7-10, 2008 and T&J
Barrel Blast is coming up at the end of August in Williamston at the
Sen. Bob Martin Eastern Ag Center. This promises to be a great show
so be prepared to have a really great time.
We’ll see you at the next horse show!

Hey Everybody, We had a great show at Triple H. I
want to THANK Ronnie and Elizabeth for a wonderful day. Terrell
Setzer won the 50-50 and donated it back to the district THANKS
TERRELL!!!
We have a lot going on in Aug. Our 1st show is in
Morganton at Hillside Arena. We have the Colonial National the next
weekend. On to Triple C then Triple H. If weather is questionable
CALL BEFORE YOU HAUL. We post on the web site ASAP if a cancellation
happens. I pray for safe travel to all and Good Luck to all going to
VA.
As I write the Youth World is in process - NC has a
few that have made it back so far.
I need all the youth to start selling your raffle
tickets; we have a quilt and a pony still to give away. Also, I am
looking for saddle sponsors. Jimmy Abernathy has donated one. So, if
you have a business or family/ friends that will do it. This is a
great way to advertise. You can split between 2 businesses also.
Happy Birthday to all of our Aug babies. Stay cool
and enjoy the rest of the summer.
See you all at the next show. God Bless you all,
Debbie
